During the Pre-season, there was a real belief that Dan Thurgood had put together his best ever Rhyno squad. Thomas Nelson, Daniel Severn and Chris Dorrian finally all committed to playing the entire season, rather than a handful of appearences here and there and through Dan’s Saturday commitments, seven new signings arrived from Sheering and the blend looked good to add to those quality players who were still a part of the club. In fact Rhyno went on and lost only three games and drew just two of their twenty League games this season, winning the rest. Unfortunately, a CEMS side who were far too good for this League won 20 out of 20 and won the League at a canter and consigned Rhyno to the Runners-up spot. Also, once again the Cup draws didn’t favour Rhyno, out on Penalties of the First Round of the Inter-Divisional Cup to Premier side Burnt Mill – who had scored a last minute equaliser - and losing narrowly to CEMS 1-0 in the Division 2 Cup Preliminary Round. In the Essex Cup, their progress was thrwarted early on by Division One Champions Risden Wood Reserves (2-1) in a tight affair over at Fairways. Result highlights from this season were 6-1 and 6-4 victories over Harlow Stort and a great 8-0 win at Fairways against a Risden Wood A side that had won the Division the season before.
